WGF water well project
Description:
This is one of WGF initiative to Curb water scarcity in pastoralist area.the project is located in south-east extre Bale Zone in Ethiopia where water scarcity is very high.the women were the most affected as they bear the responsibility of fetching the water in the households, during this many women reported to face an attack from wild animals including Tiger and Lion as they travel 19-23km from Kalle Village to Dayyu River.this project solved a women problem by saving their time to take care of their children. impact assessment shows that women are also able to engage into economic activities from saved time.The project benefitted morethan 1200 households. WGF currently implementing 11hand dug wells in remote areas for pastoralist communities. as digging a wells by hand is more time consuming and costy American Relief Agency for the Horn ( araha.org ) recently donated a drilling machine to further strengthen WGF grassroot water and sanitation initiative.
