Title:
JMDMT #297 Microfossils of Cyanobacteria in Carbonaceous Meteorites

Description:
The James M. DuPont Meteorite Collection - loricae or thecae. These thecae are found in numerous phyla of algae: Euglenales (Trachelomonas, Strombomonas), Volvocales (Phacotus, Coccomonas), Dinophyceae (Peri- dinium, Dinophysis, Exuviella), and in numerous Chrysophyceae and Craspedo- monadinae.* The Chrysophyceae may have, in addition, a phase of dormancy or of resist- ance in the form of siliceous cysts or statospores. These cysts always have an endogenous origin, and may arise from a simple encystment of a vegetative cell, or, on the contrary, of a zygote resulting from a autogamy or from an isogamic fusion. The cysts of the Chrysophyceae are exclusively siliceous, and are of highly varied forms, but they exhibit a pore closed

Marine Ocean Alive's Phytoplankton Elements of Life & Sunfood
www.superfoodliving.com obtain energy through a process called photosynthesis and must therefore live in the well-lit surface layer (termed the euphotic zone) of an ocean, sea, lake, or other body of water. Through photosynthesis, phytoplankton are responsible for much of the oxygen present in the Earth's atmosphere half of the total amount produced by all plant life.[2] Their cumulative energy fixation in carbon compounds (primary production) is the basis for the vast majority of oceanic ...

Diatoms in action
Diatoms are unicellular algae. They have beautiful ornate cell walls made of silica. Basically they live in glass houses! How they move is not fully understood. I filmed these through the SP100 microscope using a handheld Canon Powershot A720 IS at 6X zoom. The magnification was between 100X and 600X

Эвглена зелёная (Euglena viridis)
