Title:
Globe Bypass 22.8.08

Description:
A fantastic lunchtime at the Globe Bypass. The weather was wonderful and the trains weren't bad either! The reason for spending the time there was because the long term resident 37s at Bristol Barton Hill, were to finally be moved to Eastliegh for spares and eventually scrap. The special train was hauled by 66054, it dragged 37377 (Mainline Blue) and 37077 (Undercoat) with 6 spoil wagons, to assist braking. The unusual train was working 6Z70 11.43 Bristol Barton Hill-Eastleigh, although it arrived to me 150 late! A huge thankyou goes to Fred for the GEN, much appriciated! Along with this working, 66610 also appeared working Westbury-Avonmouth! Usually an EWS working, not sure what is going on there! Although this wasn't captured on film. Plenty of HSTs, 158s, 150s, 153s and 159s in action. A great unit combo consisting of 153+150+153+153! How cool is that?! A few superb HST horns today along with a couple of units doing what they do best! 142030+150127 are seen working together after working Paignton-Paddington earlier, they are seen running ECS back to Exeter. Oh and, 43138, Thankyou goes to 'The Legendary Driver' for this one! Enjoy!

Late evening action in Newton St Loe, in search of a Network Rail 31! Network Rail Yellow 31602 is seen working 4Z08 Barton Hill-Swindon. Unfortunately soon as it appeared the rain came pouring down, after it went, the rain stopped! Typical! However it was quite a special site as it was on a green light but trundling along at a mere 10Mph! I gave the driver a wave, at first we played with the Windscreen wipers! How cool is that?! Then he gave a HUGE blast on the horn! The video also contains ...

A very enjoyable evening in the relaxing fields along the Bypass. Ill sounding 66173 works 4M20 with 35 cartics rather than the usual 30. The highlight of the evening was 66952 with a Light Movement from Westbury-Kingsland Rd with a Fantastic 2tone from the driver! A few 150s, 158s and hsts including a claggy 150243 and an interesting 2tone from 43078! Enjoy.

It was looking so promising with the sun blaring and not a cloud in the sky, when suddenly a huge rain cloud appeared and the heavens opened! This video contains the usual traffic that appear in this area with 150s, 158s, Voyagers and hsts. We also, very suprisingly, had 67002+67008! with the RHTT from Weston Super Mare, bound for Bristol Barton Hill. Enjoy.

Another enjoyable morning at the Bypass. 67026+67021 had this weeks honours of hauling the FGW loco-hauled service from Bristol to Weymouth. A few hsts, 158s, 150s and a 159 also envolved with a couple of 2tones thrown in. Apologies for the tripod use, it's not great!- I'll let you decide on that!

In the dark skies of a 'summer' evening, we find ourselves at the Bypass. So without further ado..66088 with the returning 6B64 Westbury-Margam Empty mgrs with a tone, this was the only freight in the 45 minutes spent there. A few hsts, 158s, a 153 and a cracking 143!

Now this is something unusual for me! Night photography! It's rare that I ever head out to see evening trains but I decided to tonight, with some superb sky colours. Although not contributing to the light! IT was still pitch black! 66040 Works and Eastbound Freight with RMC Rustbuckets, never seen this working before! Also a Bristol bound HST and a Westbury bound 158. Enjoy.

A few hours down the dual carriage way (Hence the Traffic noise) was extremely interesting! Obviously the usual traffic like FGW 158s and hsts with a touch of freight. 153361 made an appearence which is in Northern Livery but FGW are short of traffic so that explains that! 153305 (not filmed) also turn't up in the new FGW livery fresh from Eastleigh working 5F74 to BSPM. 159005 was the South West unit today. 66174 is the opening picture working 7 flats to Newport ADJ from Westbury. A couple ...
