From San Diego's Union Station and up the surf line we travel through Old Town, Sorrento Valley, Del Mar, Solona Beach, Carlsbad, Oceanside, San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano, Anaheim, and take a tour of L.A. Union Station as well as watch trains come in and out of the Station platforms and pass the tower. We will continue north of L.A. up the old Southern Pacific Line up the coast to Santa Barbara, stopping at towns like Glendale, Camarillo, Ventura, Dulah, and Seacliff watching trains round the bays at the foot of coastal mountains with plenty of great surf shots. We stop at Carpinteria California and take a good look at Santa Barbara, the depot, and its many trains as well as take a tour of town. You will notice that engineers and conductors were required to grab train orders on the fly. Orders were attached to a string and hung on a pole trackside.
