11 New freshies; ** 5 Grammostola aureostriata slings Tapinauchenius gigas- one of most fastest Ts (a christmas present) Avicularia avicularia Nhandu Chromatus Acanthoscurria brocklehursti Lasiodora parahybana **the chacos were given to me free. Tarantula Canada had too much (800 to be exact) and she didn't want to have them cannabolize each other. So I unwillingly adopted 5 of these babies. I'm bound to have at least 1 male and female so hopefully i can attempt mate some of these.

Aphonopelma hentzi mating pair, first encounter
This is the first encounter with my Oklahoma Brown Tarantula female and a recently found adult male. (He's getting released after one more date with this rather healthy female I have here) Some real high flying action here with her ending up completely off the ground in a splendid "Flying T"!!! Quite exciting and beautiful if you ask me! Notice the clear attempt as the male "drums" on her epigastric furrow with his palpi. No real good look at the embolus but I still believe we had a successful mating. I had just come home from an unsuccessful attempt with the same male and a female I have at work (I work in a zoo) where the female merely gave him the "cold shoulder". So, I was thrilled to see that this date went so well. I wasn't too set to film this however, I didn't have enough access to the tank, my apologies for some camera difficulties, but you can clearly see a lot going here. Notice how the female seems to "take over" after the actual mating. She totally rules over him as he cowers. I almost thought that they might have another go at it but then I could tell that he was "done" and removed him. I'll try once more at the zoo with the other female and one more session here at home before this old "stud" gets returned to the wild to finish his life. The male is in his final stage of life at this point (the final instar or moult, made obvious by the appearance of tibial "hooks" on the two foremost legs. These are for mating and hold back the female tarantula's fangs while they are embraced) and it would be pointless to keep him. He will die of old age (at best) in a matter of months. Thanks buddy! You were great! I have two guaranteed female, (positive with spermathecae, ID'd from molts) Grammostola rosea's (Chilean Rose) at home and they are ripe for breeding so I'm looking to "borrow" a male. Maybe I can trade you an A. hentzi s-ling or two for the loan. Better not count my Tarantulas before they hatch though, eh? Leave a comment if you can help. Thanks for watching! Rob
