![]() | Web-Sharing Group In keeping with the spirit of this week's segment, we at Ampolo will each share with you one of our favorite websites. We hope that you will do the same. PLEASE take a moment and go to our comment section and share one or two of your favorite websites with your fellow viewers (and tell us why you like them). Here are ours: Meredith: www.icanhascheezburger.com "A humorous web site that features candid shots of domestic cats (and other animals) in funny positions and then users or the submitter of the photo can add their own caption to the photo. The captions are always spelled incorrectly and phonetically because we all know that if animals could spell, they'd do a poor job. I admit that I'm not learning anything at all from this web site, but it guarantees a laugh everyday when I visit." John: My suggestions isn't exactly one website, but a fun tool to help you stumble on new websites. At www.stumbleupon.com you can download a little tool bar for your internet browser. It puts a little "Stumble" button and a "thumbs up" & "thumbs down" in your tool bar. I spend a lot of precious time hitting the stumble button and waiting to see the random page that appears. The more pages I thumbs up or thumbs down, the better Stumble Upon learns what pages to show me in the future. Nora: communityarts.net "CAN's Web site is an international resource focusing on the work of artists and their community partners -- projects and programs that actively promote the arts as part of education, political life, health recovery, prisoner rehabilitation, environmental protection, community regeneration, electronic communication, and more." Sharon: I have so many websites where I can get lost--but for art and art lessons, I'm partial to www.NickJainschigg.org. If you visit, click on the painting-a-day option and read about his project. If you mouse over the paintings, you'll see his commentary which I always find interesting and often amusing. For shopping, I like www.etsy.com. All of the wares are handmade and sold by the artists. A fun place to browse. www.craftster.com is good for creative inspiration and and for reading and linking to interesting articles and publications, I like www.artsandlettersdaily.com Steve : www.mediastorm.org "MediaStorm's principal aim is to usher in the next generation of multimedia storytelling by publishing social documentary projects incorporating photojournalism, interactivity, animation, audio and video for distribution across multiple media. In 2007, MediaStorm won an Emmy for Broadband Documentaries, took first place in both the Best of Photojournalism Contest and Pictures of the Year, and won the Webby Award for the Magazine category." |
