Natural Beauty of Hawaii - Tradtional Japanese Meditative Music - Hawaiian Islands - Oahu A Christmas time trip to Kailua Beach, Oahu Island, Hawaii. This video was taken along the 2 mile trail that leads to the Makapu'u Lighthouse. The Makapu'u Lighthouse is one of Hawaii's most familiar landmarks commanding a spectacular view of the Windward side of O'ahu. The lighthouse was built in 1909. Two smaller islands can be clearly seen from this lookout - Manana Island, the largest, and Kaohikaipu Island. The Molokai Channel runs past Makapu'u Lighthouse and is an excellent spot for watching Humpback whales as they travel the channel between December and April. I found myself absolutely enchanted by the rock formations along the trail. I felt as though I was observing great masterpieces in an art museum or famous gallery. The shapes and colors and textures of these magnificient rocks took thousands of years to evolve into what they are today, and their story is that of this planet. These rocks hold a treasure trove of images and wonderment for all to see and feel.
