![]() | N AeroTrain Brief History: There were two AeroTrain consists (train #1000 and train #1001). Built in 1955 and debuted at the 1955 "GM Powerama" which was held at Soldier's Field just south of Downtown Chicago. At the same show GM showed a Solar Powered Automobile (Geeze this was 53 years ago!) -and still no solar automobiles. The two AeroTrain demonstrator sets logged over 600,000 miles traveling coast to coast and were open to the public for viewing in many major cities. In addition to the roads listed below that we can verrify used the AeroTrain is regular service, we know it also ran on many other railroads such as the Southern Pacific, New Haven, Canadian National, and spent a couple of months in Mexico. Anyone who can help with photos of the AeroTrain running on other railroads would be appreciated. Just send us an Email on what you have. (Click on Email link at the bottom of this page.) Today you can find parts of one Train Set at the Museum in St. Louis, and parts of the other Train Set at the Museum in Green Bay. The one in St. Louis was cosmeticly restored about 5 years ago using a $10,000 donation from the NMRA. The Consist of each AeroTrain Each AeroTrain consisted of the locomotive unit, 8 40 seat coaches and the tail end observation car. A total of 10 units per train set. The Locomotive used the drive train off the SW-1200 switcher (regeared so it could hit a top speed of 102 mph), and the car bodies were built using parts from an inter-city bus body that GM was building at the time. The GM Designer responsible for the AeroTrain project Charles "Chuck" Jordan is retired and living in Southern California. "Chuck" was very helpful in confirming design specifications and details of the AeroTrain. "Chuck" was the primary designer of the 1958 Corvette, and was named Cadillac's Chief of Design in 1959. We owe a huge "THANK YOU" to Chuck for his help on this project. Please visit con-cor.com for more information. |

![]() | ElectroLiner America's First "All Electric Luxury Trains" (Chicago, North Shore and Milwaukee Ry, 1941 to 1963) Estimated Delivery Early 2009 After the North Shore went Bankrupt in 1963, the ElectroLiners were eventually sold to the "Red Arrow Lines" Transit system of Philadephia, where they were remodeled and called "LibertyLiners". Con-Cor will eventually also produce the LibertyLiner version of this famous train. See information about the LibertyLiner towards the bottom of this page.... Note: Con-Cor lst announced this project in 2002, but not enough orders were received to make the projected project profitable for our company. Advances in Engineering systems, Cad-Cam design, and automated mold making have now made this project possible at a lower sales volume. We are already quite a ways along on this project, you will see links to Cad-Cam drawings of the ElectroLiner project at the bottom of this page. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Features of ElectroLiner models.. Complete 4 Car Train Set DCC Ready with NMRA plug. (Ready for function or Sound Decoder-- Note that the Decoder not included in the price) Lots of interior details (with lighting) Reversing Headlights Motorman figure Spring loaded Trolley poles (but just 2 rail operation) Lots of underbody detailing Runs on approximately 9 inch radius at slow speeds Authentic paint colors.** (Turquoise and Salmon colors in photo above do not show up well on computer screens), we have paint formula for original colors courtsey of Jim Meindl, the ElectroLiner foreman at the Illinois Railway Museum, where a fully restored ElectroLiner resides. ![]() | M-10000 City of Salina "Streamliner" Order #0001-008784 "HO" City of Salina M-10000 $429.98 Photos of the 1936 Paint Scheme on the M-10000. By 1936 the Original M-10000 train (nicknamed "Little-Zip" by some, the Tin worm" by others) has been joined by additional trainsets built by Pullman for the Union Pacific. The trains had proved to be very popular with the public and the later trains all had more cars than the 3-car M-10000, so they could handle larger passenger loads per run. So in 1936 the "Little-Zip" was refurbished, given a new paint scheme and assigned to the run between Omaha and Salina Kansas, which did not have the heavier passenger volumes of its cross country cousins. But this new paint scheme also sported the new "Streamliner" script Logo that was destined to be used by the Union Pacific for the next 35 years or so, until Amtrak took over all the Union Pacific Routes. This "Steamliner" logo was also used on thousands of U.P. Freight cars to advertise it passenger service. Now, Con-Cor brings you this famous paint scheme which has never before been available to HO modelers.Once again quantities are limited at this time, so don't miss out. Some of the Features of the M-10000 Will be DCC ready, with standard NMRA 8 pin plug mounted on internal PC board. Extra 4th and 5th Pullman car will be available ( see below) Highly detailed, and authenticly painted to match original Union Pacific Colors Full Interiors and Lighting Reversing headlights and tail lights Will accept any brand "Sound Decoder" that is compatible with standard 8-pin NMRA plug. Holes in bottom of loco chassis for sound exit. Lighted Cab interior with Engineer and Fireman Figures Extra headlight pointing to the heavens as per orginal train -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- History of the Union Pacific M-10000. The Union Pacific actually won the race to have a "modern streamlined high speed train" in service first and had their M-10000 streamliner in service in early 1934 months before the Burlington's Pioneer Zephyr. But the Burlington won the public relations battle and got more publicity for the Pioneer Zephyr which is probably remembered better than the M-10000. The M-10000 also toured much of the USA and the interior was shown to over 1 million people, and each and every one of those million plus people got a fancy sourvenier Aluminum coin made of the same material as the M-10000 body. The Original M-10000 was scrapped in early 1942. It is a bit vauge why it was scrapped so early, as other versions such as the M-10001 and M-10002 continued in service. The offical reason given was that the Aluminum in the body was needed for the "war effort". But at least one National Museum had expressed interest in preserving the train for Historical purposes. ![]() | Labelle How To TIPS FOR GETTING TO THE PARTS YOU OIL (INCLUDING MODEL TRAINS, OTHER MODEL ITEMS, AND OTHER HOUSEHOLD ITEMS): 1)On most plastic diesel models the mechanism is held to the body shell by lugs which protrude from each side of the underframe. To remove the mechanism, spread the sides of the body enough to clear the lugs. 2) The boiler shell on most moderm steam locomotives is attached to the top of the chassis by a screw that runs down through either the smokestack or one of the domes. 3)Some manufacturers have clever ways of concealing the way the bodies are secured to the frames. Never, never force the shell off. Carefully look over the entire body and find the screw or tab that holds it on. SPECIAL TIPS The Labelle #107 and #108 oils are excellent electrical conductors. To ensure good power routing, use a drop on each switch, track, switch machine contacts, etc. One drop every few months is sufficient. A few drops of Labelle #107 or #108 on the rails will make your locomotives run better too. Place drops of oif a few feet apart, run your locomotives and clean the track with a cloth. Note the dirt. Now reapply the oil drop by drop every 6 to 8 feet apart. What a difference in performance! Remember.USE ONLY A FEW DROPS! |
