Description:
I connect two steppers (X and Y axis) to the controller, and play a little with that. So far it looks that will do the job.

First run of DIY CNC
This machine is a small PCB sized milling and drilling machine. The spindle is custom built and uses a scaled down version of an R8 collet. It will be an automatic tool changing spindle once I get the tool rack made. The spindle runs at 24000 RPM. Rapids of the machine are only 600 IPM at this time as I only have a 35 volt power supply for the steppers. General specs are: Accepts 1/8" shank tools 24000 RPM spindle 20 tool capactity Auto tool length measuring 9.5" X travel 15.5" Y travel 3.5 ...
DIY CNC Allmost serious test
This video shows one of the first tests performed on my completetd machine. I remove the table board, remove the dremell tool, and set Z axis to just 2 cm in order noto to go down too much and damage the machine. It looks that it works as expected, so next step will be a real test with cutting in to the foam plate. If this test will be OK, then I will go for a balsa wood carving.

Homemade CNC Router - 2d Drawing Test
The CNC is very nearly complete, at least functionally, everything that I add from here on out is for ease-of-use (enclosure, vacuum shroud, cable tracks, soundproofing, etc). Here is a simple 2d drawing test that I did to make sure everything works fine with the z-head and router attached. I would have cut something but I don't have any endmills, those should be shipping tomorrow (gotta love mcmaster-Carr). I did get an overhead light for the garage, unfortunately it didn't have mounting ...
