Homemade Table Tennis Ping Pong Robot

Title:
Homemade Table Tennis Ping Pong Robot

Description:
Click "watch in hi-quality" in blue text! I invented this mechanical "Ping Pong Robot" because I'm a mechanical engineering student at Georgia Tech and I love Table Tennis. It is a purely mechanical alternative to the electro-mechanical robots currently available. Ben Beck, Jay Johnson, Ryder Winck, and I chose this device for our Modeling and Simulation project Spring 2008. The results were put into practice when I built it later in the semester. In Spring 2008 the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets competed for their first time in the NCTTA National Championships. The men came in at 16th in the Nation. The women, 4th. This machine is dedicated to the 2008 Nationally Ranked Georgia Tech team. NOISE WORKBENCH home-made robot musician project
This is a project my my brother and I did for a non-competetive informal project fair for home-schooled students. Basically, we just collected random stuff that makes a "ding" when you hit it. We had ten unique pitches (not all the same octave, though!) and two "percussion" instruments. Each "instrument" motor is wired to one of the pins of the parallel port of an old laptop. The motors are not powered directly by the laptop, but two arrays of transistors serve as electrically controlled ...

Table Tennis -Spectacular!!
JO Waldner and J. Persson play one of the best points ever. In over 1.5 Million views, the most frequently asked question has been: "Why doesn't he just tap it in?". Well, of course that can be done. It's extremely difficult to do it right, but if you're the "Mozart of Table Tennis", this is how you do it: Look at "Table Tennis Spectacular - Part 2" . For the "experts" that belittle this as "exhibition": If you can only appreciate table tennis skills that are aimed at hard core competition ...
