I finally got time to go get some footage of the BNSF derailment aftermath that happend a couple weeks ago (5/30/09) between Chillicothe and Ottumwa in Iowa. I was gone the day this happened so I don't know to much about it. I think the last few cars and the DPU jumped the rails. They must of got the DPU picked up and moved because it wasn't around anywhere. From the looks of it they dumped a lot of coal on the road that follows the main tracks in this section. The road was closed for awhile. If anyone has anymore info on this please post it in the comments.

While watching trains at the station in Ottumwa, Iowa, I was surprised to hear over my scanner "CSXT 7374" receiving a track warrant. Amazingly, I've managed to catch two BNSF units with flashing ditch lights in the past 3 months! This video features BNSF 9726 (SD70MAC), CEFX 1018 (AC4400CW), and BNSF 8903 (SD70MAC, DPU) pulling an empty coal train through downtown Ottumwa, Iowa, on July 23rd, 2009. #9726 is an ex-Burlington Northern unit and is equipped with flashing ditch lights, which is pretty rare for BNSF units. I was in Omaha last Saturday (6-20-09) to visit my daughter and went to see the UP 844 Steam engine. It was at the Durham Museum on display. I couldn't be there when it was comming or going so I couldn't get footage of it moving : (
NS Topton, Pa Action 6/3/2009
On June 3rd, 2009 I spent a few hours in Topton, Pa on Norfolk Southern's busy Reading Line. During the time I was there I caught 3 trains. First is 509, a coal train, then a railroader 262 and finally 21M. I missed a 4th train and after that I was frustrated and went out that night a bought a scanner!
