Description:
http://www.titanhitours.co.uk/holiday-itinerary.asp?pc=HTR Your twelve day The Heart of the Rockies tour begins with Titan's VIP Home Departure Service® to London Heathrow, where our airport representatives and official Skycap Porters will assist you with check in for your flight to Calgary. On arrival we transfer to our overnight hotel, where the remainder of the evening is at leisure. The following morning we depart, via the Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump at Fort Macleod. This fascinating interpretation centre documents the buffalo hunting culture of the Plains Indians from ancient times to the arrival of the Europeans. After a chance to explore, we continue to Lethbridge, where we stay the night. Journeying south next, we cross the border into America via Shelby, to the historic Great Falls, the site that the explorers Lewis and Clark crossed during their famous 1850 Voyage of Discovery. After a relaxing nights stay in our hotel, we leave Great Falls, continuing southwards towards Helena, capital of the state of Montana and site of a gold strike in 1864. From here, we travel to the beautiful Gallatin National Forest and on to West Yellowstone, our base for the next two nights. On the fifth day of our tour, we take time to discover Yellowstone. Renowned as the worlds oldest National Park it remains remarkably well preserved. It is also one of the most extensive areas of geyser activity and whilst here we view the most famous example, Old Faithful, erupting around 20 times a day, shooting a column of water and steam to an average height of 130ft. After a memorable day we return to our hotel, where you are at leisure to enjoy your evening. Leaving Yellowstone we drive north, crossing the Continental Divide, to the old mining town of Butte, before continuing on to Missoula and our hotel. The 7th day of our tour we pass the 18,400-acre National Bison Range, boasting species of elk, antelope, mountain sheep and of course bison. We drive next to Flathead Lake and the Flathead Indian Reservation before arriving at the breathtaking Glacier National Park at the Canadian border. From here, subject to favourable weather conditions, we follow the renowned Going to the Sun Road, a spectacular 52-mile stretch of twisting, winding highway, cutting through the park, providing you with awe-inspiring views of this undeniably scenic area. It was the historic joining of two stunningly beautiful wilderness areas, Waterton Lakes National Park and its American cousin Glacier National Park, in 1932 that gave raise to the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park, our next stop. We make the Park our base for the next two nights, staying in our ideally located hotel, overlooking the magnificent Waterton Lake. Whilst at the Waterton Lakes National Park, we take a tour, inluding the spectacular sights of Cameron Lake, Red Rock Canyon and the serene Cameron Falls. Later in the day we embark on a true highlight, with an international scenic boat cruise across Waterton Lake and the American border, allowing you a chance to relax and spot the spectacular array of wildlife that this UNESCO biosphere reserve has to offer. The next day we leave Waterton and travel north to Radium Hot Springs in British Columbia. From here we drive through the delightful Kootenay National Park and cross the Continental Divide at Vermilian Pass en route to Banff National Park, our base for the next two nights. Nestled in the majestic Rocky Mountains, Banff has the reputation as being one of the loveliest small towns in North America and after our included tour of the surrounding area you will appreciate why. We visit the stunning radiance of Lake Louise, Canadas most famous lake, with its picture postcard views of the pristine Victoria Glacier. The remainder of our stay in Banff is free to discover the many delights at leisure. Why not take a gondola ride to the top of the 7,500ft Sulphur Mountain or simply relax in the variety of inviting restaurants. Following time for some last minute shopping and sightseeing, we leave Banff and transfer to Calgary Airport for our flight to London Heathrow. On arrival our staff will be waiting to escort you to your Titan transport, for your safe journey home. Thanks for watching.
