Our fighting men and women will carry out their orders to the best of the ability, she believes, but the onus remains on civilian leaders to select the right mission and battlefield. The former Air Force officer and part-time speechwriter for the Pentagon supports Barack Obama because he has demonstrated the judgment to repair America's image abroad and use our armed forces wisely. ![]() | Paltalk News - Hope, Frustration At The UN Officials and diplomats at the United Nations expressed both hope and frustration about the world body's abilities to remedy some of the wrongs that exist around the world during a series of interviews on News Talk Online on Paltalk.com. Jared Kotler, spokesman for the UN's political affairs department, said the United Nations is still actively engaged in trying, for example, to broker a peace in the Middle East. But as daunting as that remains, he says there were successes in Iraq. Where the UN has helped oversee two successful national elections. Katherine Miller of the UN Foundation, which, along with Talker's Magazine, was a sponsor of the Talk Radio Day at the UN, spoke about successful efforts in getting mosquito netting to at risk children in Africa. But also of the need to do much more to save even more lives from the scourge of malaria. Veteran and senior UN diplomat Francis Deng pragmatically and patiently explained how difficult it is to get nations out-of-compliance with UN resolutions to do the right thing for their citizens. Especially those committing genocide. And UNICEF spokesman Chris de Bono spoke of children at risk around the world, whether the result of war, medical problems or poverty. He talked about the successes. And the frustrations. As UNICEF attempts to protect as many as possible |
