He made his new territory along the Tana river, but when the Wakamba herdsmen kept bringing their livestock to his hunting ground, he moved on. George Adamson said in his autobiography, "I used to count the days on which we hadn't seen Christian, but when they reached 97, I gave up recording them in my diary." Because a lion can live from 12 to 15 years in the wild, Adamson believed that Christian ended his days in the Meru National Reserve only a few miles up river. "Lion Man" Gareth Patterson, author, environmentalist, and the person who continued George Adamson's lion rehabilitation work, revisited Kora in 1998. I think the lion situation one is interesting and brings up much debate on how/if we can conserve the king of Africa. Can we save the lion, or is it doomed simply by the amount of people on this planet? Although some conservation groups back trophy hunting, I do not fully agree and tend to support those parks that do not see hunting, nor "walk with a lion" programs as an option for the lions conservation. I feel by simply protecting enough land with funds from tourist and animal groups the lion will do just fine. Thanks so much for watching- Brian |

 | Christian the Lion- HUG! Here's a perfect example of what happens when you show an animal love. ^_^ Christian was brought up by two humans and here he is greeting one of them. It warms my heart every time I see this, because the lion is like "Hey, I know you! *GLOMP!*" :D And who says cats aren't loyal? Christian's story is told in both a documentary and a book.
