Kayaking the River Nith (Alone in the Wild style camera)
Okay, "massive" might have been over egging the pudding, but it has been a while since I paddled any proper white water! This is a short video of a trip down the river Nith in Scotland, during a spell of heavy rain. The guage was showing 4, although it has been paddled at 7.5, when a lot of people got separated from their paddling gear. Music: "Deep Catchy Hole" by fresh body shop. www.myspace.com Using an "Alone in the Wild" style of camera
BWCA Solo #2, Spring 2008
This is a video slideshow of my first canoe solo into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, in northeastern Minnesota. I lost the first three days to illness and storms, so I couldn't make the loop to Quetico and back. But I learned a lot about canoe travel, and while I'm no stranger to wilderness, I also learned a lot about myself. For a more descriptive writeup, go to the Trip Logs at www.losthighwayphoto.com
Birch Bark Canoe Kejimkujik (HD)
This is the summer of 2008 at Kejimkujik National Park. I had the honor of taking one of my fathers birch bark canoes out on the lake, solo! As you can see this canoe can turn on a dime unlike the $8000 racing canoe I was keeping an eye on.
Green River - Solo Canoe Trip
www.rivertrekker.com - In July 2009 I took a seven day solo float trip on the Green River in Utah. I put in at Ruby Ranch and was picked up at Spanish Bottom, four miles below the confluence of the Green and Colorado Rivers. This is a spectacular float with many side canyon hikes and lots of wildlife - including interesting insects, reptiles, birds, beaver, deer, and desert bighorn sheep.
