Disneyland Dream Suite
Title:
Disneyland Dream Suite
Description:
Are you ready for your next Disney vacation? California Travel Tips host Veronica Hill takes you on a private tour inside the Disneyland Dream Suite, a private apartment designed for Walt Disney. Veronica Hill of California Travel Tips takes you on a money-can't-buy tour of the Disneyland Dream Suite. Located above the Pirate's of the Caribbean, this 2200-square-foot luxury apartment was designed as a place for the Disney family to entertain friends at the park. It was completed in January 2008, true to Walt's dream. James Orviatt, Disneyland's Dream Squad working lead, gave me a private tour inside this magnificent suite which was conceptualized during the 1960s by Imagineer Dorothea Redmond. The Master Suite is modeled after Adventureland in true Victorian exotic style with florals, vines and an electroluminescent painting of Neverland above the bed. You'll also notice several lighting fixtures throughout the suite, as Walt loved to read in bed. In the Master Suite, you'll find a gorgeous stained glass replica of Louis Comfort Tiffany's "Young Woman at a Fountain." Press the magical button before your bath, and more than 1,800 stars will appear above you, along with a beautiful musical accompaniment. (You may even see a Hidden Mickey.) The sink, with its swan motif, calls to mind Sleeping Beauty Castle. Step inside the large walk in closet, and you'll find two plush bath robes waiting for you. Fun Fact: Your 24-hour concierge will take your pictures in bathrobes outside Sleeping Beauty Castle! Inside the parlor, the fireplace sparks mimic the fireworks over Sleeping Beauty Castle, while on the mantel you'll find a bird cage that provided inspiration for Disneyland's Tiki Room attraction. Other highlights include a Maxfield Parrish table lamp, paintings of the castles that inspired Disney's logo, and a magical clock that puts on musical shows by the hour. On the rug below, you just may find another one of Disneyland's Hidden Mickeys. The informal sitting room, with its two twin beds, was modeled after Frontierland in the Old West style that Walt truly loved. Here, you'll find two chairs from Disney's 1967 film, "The Happiest Millionaire," a Gas style lamp from Disneyland Paris, and an original Franklin Cinderella Stove. A special "Kiss Goodnight" button in this room activates a little train that travels around the room, and a raised Disneyland Park Map that lights up at night. When you're ready to relax outdoors, head to your private New Orleans-style courtyard where you'll find paper lanterns hanging above in true Bayou style. The tranquil fountain, purchased by Lillian Disney, bears the Walt Disney family shields on each side of the wall. Each lucky winner enjoys dinner, late night snacks and drinks on the patio, which is the best spot in the park to view Fantasmic. I hope you've enjoyed this private tour inside Walt Disney's magical Dream Suite. Head over Disneyland and you just may be the next lucky winner enjoying this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
