Looking at Damage in Back Yard after Inland Hurricane
Inland hurricane / derecho storm, Marion, IL., 05/08/09 - Right after the stronger winds hit I ran up to our sleeper porch k to look at the back yard, since the fallen tree had blocked the breakfast nook windows. Our neighbor's tree pulled up his deck, smashed through our fence, punched a hole in our roof, tore down our electrical service, and then landed on our patio fence.
Carbondale IL Inland Hurricane at Best Buy
Video inside the Carbondale, IL Best Buy during the inland hurricane on 5-8-09. Taken on my cell phone so the video quality is poor. The storm hit around 1:30pm with winds clocking in at 106 mph. It was considered to be an inland hurricane due to the structure of the storm which included an eye.
