Host Railroad: Metro North Railroad Tenant Railroad: Norfolk Southern Line: Port Jervis Line/NS Southern Tier Train Symbol: HO-8 Direction of train: Westbound Train origin: Campbell Hall, New York Train destination: Port Jervis, New York Engines: 5645 (GP 38-2) 5646 (GP 38-2), 5648 (GP 38-2) Cars: 9 Coaches (4,7,1,2,3,5,18,51,21) Location: Port Jervis, New York County: Orange County PHOTOS by Michael Foley, of Yonkers Rails, can be seen here: http://www.yonkersrails.com Notes: Norfolk Southern trains between Four Story Jct, in The Town of Wallkill, and Port Jervis, ended years ago when the sole customer located in the small NS yard in Port Jervis, stopped receiving flatcars of telephone poles there. Now, for the past few years, The Strates train has been the ONLY Norfolk Southern train to travel through Otisville Tunnel, Black Rock Cut, and into Port Jervis. This section of the train ran in the afternoon after the eastbound passenger train cleared Campbell Hall. They are stored in The VERY small NS yard in Port Jervis because that is where there is water hook-up available. At this time, the flat cars were being unloaded in Middletown, for the trek across Interstate 84 to Danbury, CT. The train would have normally been on The Housatonic Railroad in Connecticut. Also, of note, the three GP38-2's had been recently refurbished. ©2009 Michael Foley YONKERS RAILS ALL RIGHTS RESERVED

CSX Freight Train pass by
Between two crossings as a CSX freight train passes by. This is actually the first time a conductor has honked the horn for us! Most of the other videos are taken at very busy crossings so that is probably why they don't usually do it, but this one was in another town. Note that this is NOT filmed by me, I was with my friend and he taped it using his camera. I justed edited it and put it on Youtube. I enabled Digital Zoom on his camera so at some points he zooms in to much as he isn't used ...
From the Inside Out
Early years of Susquehanna stack trains always provided fans with Saturday adventures. With a Friday night westbound scheduled out of Little Ferry, NJ and weekend eastbounds finishing of the last miles of their cross country journeys, one could almost always catch the westbound somewhere up the pike and know it would run into a counterpart along the way and chase him east. Today the camera dates the scene at June 6, 1987. We first find the westbound at Campbell Hall on the Maybrook/Walden ...
