Travis Orbin - On The Virg Playalong (RE-UPLOAD)

Description:
As long as I'm re-uploading clips I may as well do this one, as I was never completely content with how it turned out. My apologies for the THIRD upload, haha. When I finish a video it's like a small accomplishment; I become really excited and wish to post it immediately. This is certainly no exception as it's one of the hardest things, drum-wise, I've EVER done. Anyway, I brought up the backing track yet again, increased the overall volume of the clip, improved the video quality and enlarged the size. This was originally uploaded in August of 2009. Thanks to everyone that commented, rated and 'favorited' the clip. Here is the original video description: I re-uploaded this with the backing track more present in the mix. This is for the folks who are not familiar with the tune, so that they may hear what the heck's happening and how the drums interact with the music. With my recent time off I've been torturing myself worse than usual, haha. This track is titled "Native Metal" and it's from the amazing 'Serious Young Insects' album. It features the ever awe-inspiring Virgil Donati on the drum set. I can't say enough kind things about Virg; he's a huge influence and source of inspiration. I'd venture to say that this is one of his flagship tunes, which factored into my selection. However, the drum parts are what intrigue me most and I had to conform them to my setup. I changed some little nuances; some by choice and some simply by virtue of working around my kit. Also, I feel that the transcription is not 100% accurate (although it's very close), so I played some parts how I hear them on the actual recording. I tried out a new camera angle but I don't find it very flattering. I think I'll just stick to works best, heh. There's a little sloppiness here and there, but acquiring a solid take of this beast all the way through proved incredibly challenging! myspace.com/travisorbin

Travis Orbin - Groovin' Grooves From The Left Side (RE-UPLOAD)
I decided to re-upload this because youtube somehow recently made the video completely off sync from the audio. I also smoothed out the transitions, brought the volume level up and tried to make the video quality less grainy. This was originally uploaded in November of 2006. Thanks to everyone that commented, rated and 'favorited' the clip over the years. Umm... 're-enjoy'! Here is the original video description: This clip features some of my favorite grooves that I have composed over the ...
Travis Orbin - Tracking At Audio Hammer Studios
This video was removed from the Periphery account, so I decided to post it under my personal one. Thanks to Jake Bowen (who also filmed it)! In the first half I am improvising some linear/quasi-linear figures--sans click, if memory serves me correct--in an effort to stay warmed up. As for the second half, I was tracking a tune called "Far Out" at 132BPM. The click that is present in the video is not what I had in my cans; I like to track/rehearse most material with the subdivision that is ...
Mark Hudson Studio Drumming
Just another recording session. I chose some interesting parts in some of the songs to broadcast as well as one full song. The song is my favorite to play of ours right now. I apologize for the click track and the talking. They are just expressing how weird they think I look when I play because apparently im emotionless. Who knew.
Travis Orbin - "Alias" Interpretation
"Alias" closes the album and is every bit as strong as the opening tune and the subsequent ones. This will be my last video for a few weeks as I am waiting on new recording gear and--hopefully--my new Truth kit may also be completed. Notes: 0:13 - 0:17 - fill-in modified 1:37 - 1:39 - cymbal orchestration changed 2:43 - 2:45 - extra bass drums added (the sequence is one quarter, two eighths, three eighth-note triplets and four sixteenths) 3:00 - hi-hat strikes compliment vocals 3:01 - 3:25 ...
