LeConte Lodge Airlift
leconte Lodge, atop Mt. leconte in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, is accesible only by hiking one of five trails. During its open season, fresh supplies are brought up the mountain by llamas. Once a year, a helicopter airlift brings in most non-perishable supplies. This year's airlift took place Monday, March 17, 2008. This video is of a hike up the Alum Cave Bluff trail to watch the airlift.
