The former leader of the Bosnian Serbs and one of the world's most wanted men, Radovan Karadzic, has been arrested in Serbia. The Serbian President's office has confirmed he was arrested by the country's security service.

Thousands turned out in Belgrade on Tuesday night to show their support for the war crimes suspect. He's been in custody in the Serb capital since his capture last week. But as his extradition took place, those loyal to him poured onto the city's streets to protest against the government decision to extradite him to the International Criminal Tribunal in The Hague.
Karadzic extradited to The Hague
The former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic has arrived at the international criminal court detention centre in The Hague. He is expected to appear before a judge on Thursday. Karadzic, who was captured in Belgrade on July 21 after 13 years on the run, faces eleven charges, including genocide and crimes against humanity.
Karadzic to enter plea in 30 days
The former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic has appeared before The Hague War Crimes Tribunal for the first time after 13 years on the run. He asked for more time to study the 11 charges brought against him, including genocide, and says he will respond on August 29. Karadzic said he will defend himself and threatened to go on hunger strike if he is not allowed to.

Questions are being asked about whether Serbia acted lawfully in detaining Bosnian war crimes suspect Radovan Karadžić. It's reported Karadžić was arrested late on Monday before being taken to a detention centre in Belgrade. However, Karadžić's lawyer insists the 63-year-old was taken prisoner on Friday.
