They would play a mix of country and southern rock and figured they were just having fun. Until they discovered that their friends would gather weekly at singer Rusty Buford's house for an impromptu barbecue with the four friends as the house band. They decided to try out a few original tracks mixed with the Hank Williams and Allman Brothers songs. They received good response, so they decided to write a few more. They found themselves getting paid to play local bars and clubs where eventually they were confronted by someone with ties to a label. Their debut release was a success and true to their roots of country and southern rock. "Mud on the Tires" is from My Hemi's debut release, Takin' the Back Roads. Music by Cletus Cooper. Lyrics by Rusty Buford and Zeb McLintock. This video was recorded during a concert at the Echo Hanger in Austin, Texas. "Mud on the Tires" was one of the first original songs written by the band. It proved to be a favorite of the people gathered at Rusty's home who often held their girlfriends and wives close during the song.
