A bridge in northeastern Kentucky has been named in honor of a Kentucky soldier who died in Afghanistan. The family of Army Specialist Jeremy R. Gullett unveiled signs marking the bridge during a special dedication ceremony in Greenup county on June 4th, the soldier's birthday. The bridge carries KY 2 across the Little Sandy River near Greenup. As summer travel begins a reminder that traffic and travel information is available 24\7 by calling 511 or visiting the website at 511.ky.gov.

For the first time, the program is being offered to students who are interested in pursuing a civil engineering technology associates degree at Big Sandy Community and Technical College in eastern Kentucky. This week discussing the upcoming Click it or Ticket campaign beginning in May. This campaign aims at encouraging motorists to buckle up will involve several public awareness events and an enforcement blitz. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's Office of Highway Safety will be sponsoring the Drive Smart Kentucky 150 Race at Kentucky Speedway. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that seat belts worn by front seat passengers reduce about half the chance of fatal injuries....

Governor Steve Beshear recently unveiled the design of two bridges that will carry US 68-80 across Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley. The twin basket handle, tied-arch spans will be unique in Kentucky. The new bridges will replace a pair of narrow, steel bridges built in 1932 across the Cumberland and Tennessee rivers. Each bridge will cost an estimated $178 million to build, including design work.
