Title:
1844 Grist Mill near Scranton, Pennsylvania 1
Description:
1844 Grist Mill near Clarks Summit in Milwaukie. Privately owed and recently restored by Mark Ayers. This grist mill was used for flour and other grains consumed in the mid to late 1800's and early 1900's. People would travel from the surrounding area, sometimes 10 to 20 miles which was a days trip by horse and buggy. Originally there was a race that brought water from a dam several hundred yards up stream in Gardeners Creek. Today the water is fed from an underground spring and recirculated through the building and back out on the race you see on the side of the building.

When Brent says he's "pushing 100 today" he means he'll be biking 100 miles. |

I have seen a six-foot mound of ice beneath the main flow of this waterfall during a strectch of bitterly cold weather. The water that falls from this rock-face actually joins the very creek that pours over the Goid Waterfall just a hundred yard or so from where it lands.
