 | Atonal Space (dissonance ahead!) Come with me and let's go to outer space where no gravity is, and we will use Atonal music with no "gravity" toward any given key. We will travel into the depths of space and observe some of the handiwork of the Creator. The Atonal Space composition, I had composed back in 1988, when 25 years old, a time when I was studying music at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Atonality, music having no tonal center or key, brought forth by an ordered musical system, was fascinating to me. Just following the guidelines to achieve this "absence of gravity" in music will result in Atonality. This system was uncovered by Arnold Schoenberg, a composer from the early 1900's. I hope you will enjoy and appreciate the voyage we will embark upon. Perhaps it will stimulate your thinking in some ways. For me it brings to mind the vastness and depth of the universe. Much like the notes in an Atonal work, so are the planets in their alignment in orbit around the sun. Ordered in such a precise fashion the make life possible on earth where there is gravity. The tone row of musical notes for this composition are: C, G#, E, Bb, A, F, C#, D, F#, G, B, D#. In creating, this row of notes, dissonance is recommended from one note to the next if possible, although a major or minor third may sometimes be present if so desired, but definitely not two major thirds in a row. Most photos seen in this video are photographed by the hubble space telescope, which I am sure some of my tax dollars, somewhere along the line, helped make possible. Well, the photos are breathtaking and inspiring. Someday when we are not anchored down in our physical bodies we can travel beyond the sights of even the hubble telescope. It has to be endless out there would you say? Makes me think of the great vastness of the Creator, and we humans try to put Him in a little package and say here, this is the way it is.
