Built in the 1850s by the Pennsylvania Railroad as a clever solution to climbing the steep grade up part of the Allegheny Mountains. Still quite active today under control of the Norfolk Southern Railway. Located just outside Altoona, PA. There is a nice museum in Altoona also.

Took a trip last year to Horseshoe Curve in Altoona, PA. These videos are taken with a photo camera, so the focus is sometimes off, but they are nice memories. Here we have NS 9966 leading an eastbound stack train

Taking about right timing! An EB manifest train (NS9834 and NS6656) seen here descending the grade while a WB intermodal train climbing the hills. NS3335 and NS3350, both SD40-2s, are the rear power on the manifest train.

A ride over a humpback rail bridge on the maeklong line
