Searching For Ahnapee & Western Railway Part 2
Description:
Here we start in Algoma examining the "wye". The train might come in from Forestville and it would have to pull quite a way into Algoma, then it would need to reverse direction to get to Rio Creek and points South. Scenes on this vid are the old right of way at the Algoma "wye", Rio Creek, Casco, Casco junction, and then Luxemburg where the rails still operate. The Ahnapee & Western Railway has been gone for decades but in its place we now have a really neat bike path and some good memories. I strongly encourage anyone with information on the A&W to post. If you have any memorabilia I would hope that you would donate it to the appropriate historical society.

 | Searching For The Ahnapee & Western Railway Part 1. I wish I could do a in depth informative video on the old A&W but there is almost nothing left to find. The Northern leg to Sturgeon Bay was abandoned and ripped out by the early '70's. The Kewaunee portion was shut down sometime after 1985. I first became interest in this line because it crossed the old family farm just outside of Sturgeon Bay. I have very dim memories of some of those last trains and the path the track took into town.
