Atkins Diet- Motivation and Recidivism

Title:
Atkins Diet- Motivation and Recidivism

Description:
In this video I deal with the question of a past Atkins follower regarding recidivism and motivation. The question was how to regain the motivation to do Atkins again when it just "makes you want to purge." I respond with dealing with about what motivated me. I held a couple of different images in my head -- negative and positive ones. The negative ones centered on what the weight and fat meant to me -- being kicked off amusement park rides or having to shop for cars with the greatest gut room. The positive ones kept varying as new opportunities kept arising - like reenlisting in the National Guard, running the Living History Farms race, or something as simple hiking with the kids. The second half is surrounding yourself with others who know you and know your trials. They can commiserate with you, challenge you to do better, or celebrate in your successes. Finally, internalizing the motivation rather than relying on external pressures is only way to success. External pressure will never be enough to turn down the chocolate because those motivators aren't always around. You however always are.

Exercise: It's Non-Negotiable, Part 1 (Atkins Diet)
In this video, I deal with the misconception of exercise and the low carb lifestyle and my recommendations on starting exercise while doing 14-Day Induction. My recommendation might be surprising and is more probably a response to being a super-heavyweight loser (more than 100 pounds to lose) and my case of Induction flu. Someone who has much less to lose and is not bothered by Induction Flu, should consider exercise as soon as possible. Like our motto says: "Atkins Diet will make you look good. Atkins Diet plus Exercise will make you look good naked."

Atkins Diet Recipes: Low Carb Pancakes
Here is my breakfast Low Carb cooking video where I make my favorite low carb pancake recipe. This isn't Induction friendly due to the Baking mix, but you could substitute some almond flour to make it Induction legal. Here's the recipe: * 8oz pkg cream cheese * 3 eggs * 3 tsp Splenda or equivalent liquid Splenda * 1/4 cup Atkins Bake Mix *recipe below * 1/2 tsp baking powder * 1/2 tsp vanilla * 1/4 cup Heavy Cream or buttermilk Beat cream cheese with mixer until blended smooth. Add the remaining ingredients, and let sit for 5 minutes. Preheat non-stick pan to med/high heat. Spray pan with non stick spray and use 1/4 cup measure per pancake. Yield 10 pancakes. Atkins Induction Acceptable Foods - The Good, The Bad
and the Pork Rinds... I go over the Acceptable Foods for Atkins Induction and Extended Induction phase and personal advice on how to have a successful Induction phase. Having a successful Induction phase of Atkins is so much more than just losing weight. It is about getting your eating under your control again, getting your blood glucose levels stabilized, starting to learn new healthy habits with food, and finally to experience the magic of ketosis to the person needing to lose weight. Learning new comfort foods is one of the main steps. The low carb recipe sites play a key role in achieving this goal. Atkin Diet: What to do about a stall?
In this the second half of the stall series, I deal with what should be the reaction of those who aren't losing inches or pounds for more than 4 weeks. Note: these are not for those that had a bad week or didn't lose in the last two week. Here's a synopsis on what to try: 1. Take your measurements (make sure you are in a stall) 2. Start a food diary (Fitday, SparkPeople) 3. Evaluate what you are eating 4. Tweak exercise - "try 5" 5. Cut out certain groups (dairy, aspartame, caffiene, newly tried food groups) 6. Post your menu's at online support group sites 7. Fasting diet (Fat Fast or Stillman's Diet) for those with extreme metabolically resistance
Atkins Diet Quick Hits - How do I start?
I am starting a new series of videos based upon the questions or comments I have received either privately or in the comments section. Each of these videos will be targeted to answering that question or issue in short, less than 3 minutes video. I am hoping that these videos can be used as a Frequently Asked Question about the Atkins Diet or Low Carb in general. In this video, I deal with a question I receive often. How do I start or restart the diet? I come up with three specific recommendations: 1.) Get the junk out of your house. There is no reason to start with cravings staring you in the face. 2.) Get and read the book. The book I mean is either the low carb book of choice or Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002). 3.) Hit the low carb recipe sites, like Linda's Low Carb, and browse the Induction friendly recipes. Make a menu for the week and go shopping. The last half of this viewer's question was how long to do the diet. I somewhat answered this already in the last video, but my answer is always "forever. There is no "after" on the Atkins Diet." I hope you like this series of upcoming videos.
