Garifuna Music and Dance: A Night Out in Livingston, Guatemala

Title:
Garifuna Music and Dance: A Night Out in Livingston, Guatemala

Description:
An evening spent at Rasta Mesa in Livingston, Guatemala enjoying Garifuna music, dance and food. The Garifuna are a small population of descendants of Africans and Carib-Arawaks who were exiled from St. Vincent and are now living in parts of Belize, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. Their music and dance is reminiscent of west Africa, where their ancestors came from. A typical Garifuna band consists of a couple of drums, a turtle shell and maracas. Kids from the neighborhood join in the fun and dance to their heart's content. Make sure you watch until the end for the warrior's dance. ©www.uncorneredmarket.com
