Travel Diary #1 - June 28, 2008

Description:
Saturday June 28, 2008 A.M: Today TJ and I woke up at 6:30a.m. in order to let the dogs out and finish gathering all my items. We arrived at his work at 7:30a.m. I chose to stay in the 4runner so I could attempt to catch a few more zzz's...I ended up catching about forty five minutes worth. I met a few of his coworkers (TJ ACTUALLY introduced me to them...I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone or something!) His boss was quite persistent in trying to purchase food/drink for me when he went to Starbucks, but a) I don't do Starbucks and b) I really wasn't up for eating or drinking. Anyways, I hung out around there for a while, made a video blog for this travel journal, and ended up cracking and reading what TJ wrote in my yearbook. I wasn't going to read it until I made it to the mainland, but my curiosity got the best of me. I ended up crying cause I'm lame like that. Shortly after that ('twas around 11:20a.m.), TJ got his break and drove me to Departure Bay ferry terminal. Luckily, I was able to suppress most of the tears. (I don't cry in front of people. I've only done it...twice now I think...excluding my childhood, of course). I purchased my ticket and we had a smoke together, made some small talk, and then around 11:45a.m. he helped me carry all my baggage into the terminal where we hugged and, of course, I began to cry again. In fact, I'm tearing up now as we speak, just thinking about it all. Anyways... P.M. I got on to the 12:15p.m. ferry; it was extremely uneventful. When we arrived in Horseshoe Bay, we were unloaded from the vehicle deck, instead of the passenger deck like usual...very strange. I do not know what the reasoning behind that was, but it's not important. I walked over to the bus stop and talked to a few people. The lady in front of me was also from Nanaimo. Turns out, she was headed to Burnaby, so we sat together on the bus; it was really nice to have some company. We got off at the same stop (Granville) and headed down to find the SkyTrain. Being the observant person I am, I noticed it across the street from us. We made our way down a few flights of stairs...er, escalators, in our case, and caught the SkyTrain. Whilst we were getting comfortable in our seats, she mentioned the map above the doors so we could figure out our stops. A man was standing right beneath it and, upon my exclamation of my poor eyesight, he asked where I was going. I said Brentwood Town Center, and he looked at the map for me. We were on the Expo line, and apparently I needed to disembark at Broadway Station, walk a ways, and hop on the Millennium Line in order to get here. So I bid adieu to my travel buddy and wished her a good trip, and got on the correct SkyTrain. A few minutes of walking plus a few more minutes of SkyTrainin' it up, and I arrived at Brentwood Mall at approximately 4:15p.m., which is where I am currently writing this entry. Sean looks lovely, as usual. The restaurant is inside the mall, so it's fairly small, but very cozy. After hanging out at McDonalds for about four hours, Sean and I took the SkyTrain and went back to his place. It's nice here. We ate some pizza, played some guitar hero and watched some little videos and a bit of Across The Universe before going to bed. Or rather, attempting to go to bed, as he apparently was not tired and chose to annoy me. Woot..woot.. I ended up sleeping for about an hour and then I woke up as SOMEBODY had decided to grope me. /sigh. Casey came home shortly after that, and we went out to get stoned. We went to the park, then on a walk and then climbed a tree where I philosophized for a bit. Slept decently. Peace and love, nikkiCHASE
