![]() | The Wonders of the Hydrological Cycle The Hydrologic Cycle (or the Water Cycle) is a cycle of evaporation, evapotranspiration, precipitation and infiltration. The sun heats bodies of waters such as oceans and lakes, which causes the water to evaporate and form water vapor. Water vapor is also transpired from trees and soil. The collection of water vapor condenses to form clouds, which move around the globe by air currents. With the right conditions, clouds precipitate; some of the water absorbs into the ground to form an aquifer, and some runs into lakes and streams. This is a continuous cycle, however, human settlement has put a damper on the cycle. For example, industrial waste and toxins can pollute air and water, the building of dams disrupts the natural flow of water, the building of roads cause erosion, to name a few. In order to prevent further harm to the environment, we should consider the consequences of our actions to create a more eco-friendly environment for our future. |

A base receiver and three external sensors monitor complete weather information. Each sensor gathers a unique set of specific weather measurements. Data is relayed to the base station either by cable, or wireless 433MHz signal. The wireless weather stations wind sensor measures both wind speed and direction. The compass displayed on the base stations LCD screen indicates the current wind direction. Chose to display the direction by standard letter abbreviations or by degrees. The wind speed is also recorded on the compass. The wind speed can be displayed in MPH, Meters per Second (m/s), Knots, Beaufort Scale or Kilometers Per Hour (KPH). The Wireless Weather Station even calculates the current wind chill temperature. The rain sensor measures cumulative rain fall which can be displayed as rain in the last 24 hours, rain in the past one hour, or total rainfall in inches or millimeters. With the ThermoHygro Sensor, you can monitor outdoor temperature, humidity and dew point. This unit is directly connected to the rain and wind sensors and transmits all the data to the base station.
