Description:
CBC (CT) Spoils Fairfax Stars (VA) Trip 14u After holding a lead of 12-1 to begin the game, Fairfax looked to be the only team that showed up for their night game; being down 42-32 at the half couldnt have given the CBC coaches much to be happy about either. Yet, as all basketball fans know, it takes two good halfs of basketball to win a game. Neither team was able to accomplish this, however, so a strong second half surge on both ends of the floor allowed CBC to take a close 71-68 win. In the final 16 minute the backcourt attack of Kahlil Dukes (23 points) and Brandon Marshall (18 points) helped mount a furious comeback. Dukes is more of a scoring point guard who is at his best when attacking the paint, while his counterpart Marshall works well without the ball to find opening lanes to cut to the hoop. 14u - Boston Saintz over CBC, 51-50 A hotly contested game finished up Championship Sunday at the Hall as the Boston Saintz took on the Connecticut State Champs, CBC. The Saintz were forced to forfeit their two pool play games on Saturday due to not enough players being able to make it. This led to the most difficult route through bracket play just to make it to the championship. After the referees had to stop the game on more than one occurrence due to the physical play, the Saintz found themselves down 9 with 5 minutes left. However, MVP Ramon Gibbons decided to take things into his own hands. The strong 62 wing bullied his way through CBCs zone for 28 points (10-12 fts). However, Gibbons saved his best for last when, trailing 50-49, he took the inbounds pass with under 7 seconds remaining. He drove left of the lane and darted in quickly towards the rim, putting up a runner off the backboard just as time expired lifting his team to a 51-50 win. Kahlil Dukes paced CBC in the scoring department with 19 points, but ultimately was not enough as they were unable to get a stop to finish the game. ----------------------------------- Allen Iverson Kobe Braynt Tracy McGrady Vince Carter Derrick Rose Beasley Shaq Jermaine O'Neal Gilbert Arenas Tim Duncan Kevin Garnett Yao Ming Chris Bosh Steve Nash Lebron James Carmelo Anthony Chris Webber Dennis Rodman Steve Francis Stephon Marbury Shawn Marion Amare Stoudemire Michael Jordan Scottie Pippen Charles Barkley Larry Bird Magic Johnson Karl Malone John Stockton Julius Erving Dwight Howard Brandon Roy Chris Paul Baron Davis Boston Celtics New Jersey Nets New York Knicks Philadelphia 76ers Toronto Raptors Chicago Bulls Cleveland Cavaliers Detroit Pistons Indiana Pacers Milwaukee Bucks Atlanta Hawks Charlotte Bobcats Miami Heat Orlando Magic Washington Wizards Dallas Mavericks Houston Rockets Memphis Grizzlies NO/Okla. He is a very good shooter, finds open spots on the floor well, can get his shot off in a variety of ways (spot up, 1-dribble pull-up, floaters, etc) and also handles the ball very well. Needs to improve first step and getting all the way to the rim, but he really knows how to play uses that to his advantage. |
