A Tribute To Our Sister Nancy Wehrell, Oct. 21-1961-May 16-2009

Description:
This video is a tribute to our sister, Nancy Wehrell who passed away on May 16th, 2009 after a seven year courageous battle against breast cancer. Nancy was an intelligent, lively, and caring individual who touched so many individuals near and far. I'd like to share a little about Nancy for those of you who did not know her. She was a successful professional in the software, speech technology, and technical solutions field. But do know that during every one of my visits with her she told that "she wished she would have followed her dreams and been a marine biologist." Oh well... imagine the impression she would have had on all the marine life! She was a Gator fan. She appreciated fine art. She enjoyed a good glass of wine, as well as a cold Blue Moon. She played the piano, and her music is heard throughout this video. She could not resist bringing in a stray kitten or cat, thus her husband Jeff is left feeding an army of felines but he's doing a fantastic job! She was the founder of The Young Survival Coalition of Orlando Chapter, an organization which provides support for young women diagnosed with breast cancer. The Young Survival Coalition of Orlando has established a scholarship in Nancy's name to enable women who are battling breast cancer to travel to the yearly national conference. To find out more about this organization or to donate to the scholarship please visit http://www.youngsurvival.org. If interested in donating funds please contact Linda Schulte of YSC orlando @ yscorlando@youngsurvival.org I feel grateful to have lived close enough to Nancy to have been able to visit with her frequently over the last couple of years of her life as she battled the "cancer beast". Some visits were very brief, and some probably longer than Nancy's tired body could handle but every visit reaffirmed what everyone who knew Nancy realized, Nancy was one amazing chick! As I was leaving her home during a visit in early May, as she lay in bed in pain she asked me "to find a cure for her", and then she said "no, that would be selfish please find a cure for everyone else with breat cancer." Because she was so giving of herself to everyone, and especially other women battling breast cancer I asked breast cancer survivors to please submit a photo of themselves to include in Nancy's tribute video. I am thankful to the following individuals who shared their photo with me and the world: Laura, Abbi Sunshine, Tammy, Laura P, Linda, Cindy, and Elayne. I hope that as you view this video that you will get a sense of Nancy's life and exuberant personality. Know that on Friday, May 15th there was a continual stream of close friends and family who visited with Nancy throughout the entire day and late into the evening. In the early morning hours of may 16th Nancy passed away peacefully in her sleep with her devoted and loving husband Jeff right by her side, and family members close by. Her family would like to thank all of those who helped nancy and Jeff in anyway throughout the last few years. A special thanks goes out to all the individuals in the medical field that were devoted to caring for nancy. Lastly, thank you to the Hospice nurses who became an essential part of Nancy and Jeff's lives and home, and were so much appreciated in Nancy's final weeks. Bless you Nancy, and may your next journey be filled with enlightenment, and free of pain. Keep dancing.... love you forever.... Diana, Kristen, Staci, Mike, Sue and Ken If you'd like to read more about Nancy and her life please visit her blog "So It Goes" @ http://www.wehrell.blogspot.com Her last entry was June 2008.
