From the debut performance of Masne Trube at Ruta Maya in Austin, TX on 09.25.09. Masne Trube is a new Austin group dedicated to exploring the brass dominated dance music traditions of the Balkan States and points east. Pulsing with blaring trumpets, reeds and tuba often in odd meter beats and modalities unfamiliar to the Western ear, Masne Trube features a diverse array of musicians from wide ranging back rounds who have been entranced by the Big Balkan Beat that has dominated the dance music scene of Europe for decades now. No mere dilettantes, they count over 30 years of East European dance band experience among their ranks, some of whom travel frequently to play along side the very musicians that they draw their material from. Infectious and highly groove oriented, this is what you WISHED your high school marching band sounded like.
