Cornelius Vanderbilt II (grandson of Commodore Cornelius Vanderbilt) and his wife Alice Gywnn Vanderbilt built the house between 1893 and 1895 as their summer cottage. Their regular New York mansion on 5th Avenue was twice the size of the Breakers. The private non-profit Preservation Society of Newport County purchased the house in 1972 for a token sum. |

 | St. Patrick's Day Parade West Warwick Rhode Island 2006 Grossly abbreviated (and at times dizzying)footage from the 2006 St. Patrick's Parade Celebration in West Warwick Rhode Island. This parade averages about two hours in length but this video footage condenses it to ten minutes or so. The day was cold and damp and rainy. Film was shot on a portable digital camera and it was one of the first sets of film clips I ever shot with that camera so I was a little unfamiliar with how it worked. |
