Iowa Tornado, May 25, 2008

Title:
Iowa Tornado, May 25, 2008

Description:
This is the second tornado from the supercell that spawned the deadly EF-5 Parkersburg, Iowa, tornado. We intercepted the storm near Fairbank, where the new wall cloud was organizing as the first tornado occluded to the north. We tracked with the new circulation from a distance of maybe a half-mile to its south as it lowered, turned right, and produced an immense wedge that struck the southern edge of Hazleton a glancing blow.

Edina Tornado, May 13, 2009
This video was shot approximately 2 miles north of Edina, Missouri, along SR15. Pardon the quality--it's not the best. I'm sharing the video not because it's great footage--it's untripoded, shaky, and zoomed out too far--but simply to provide a record of the tornado from my vantage point in case other storm chasers wish to compare notes. There are two areas of rotation. The wall cloud in the foreground put down a brief spinup or two, which you may or may not be able to make out, and ...
Parkersburg, Iowa Tornado Security Cameras
May 25th, 2008 (No audio; sorry, had to re-upload this one) Another clip for my list of awesome 21st century twisters. The security cameras in this bank captured the complete chaos as the tornado struck. There are four angles, each with two different versions. The first clips are at normal speed, and the ones after are at a considerably reduced speed so you can see it in detail. This is probably what people would experience in their houses the moment an EF-5 tornado passes through....
