Ho! For California!

Title:
Ho! For California!

Description:
Artist: Matthew Sabatella & the Rambling String Band Studio recording of this song available on the album "Ballad of America Volume 1: Over a Wide and Fruitful Land." http://www.balladofamerica.com/music/volume1.htm Description: The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, which ended the Mexican-American War and added 1.2 million square miles to the United States (including California), was signed on February 2, 1848. A few days earlier, a New Jersey-born mechanic named James W. Marshall discovered gold on the American River in California's Sacramento Valley. Gold fever swept the world as news of the discovery and subsequent strikes traveled in letters carried by ship from San Francisco to the Atlantic ports and England. The population of California increased by 100,000 within two years. Ho! For California! was first sung that year at the send-off for a band of fortune hunters from Massachusetts. Borrowing portions of a Dan Emmett melody, Jesse Hutchinson, Jr. composed the song which was sung by his popular group The Hutchinson Family Singers. The song became an unofficial anthem for many bands of gold seekers. Please visit http://www.matthewsabatella.com for free song downloads, blog, upcoming concerts, pictures and more.

Off To California/ Joe Murphy's Jig.
With the discovery of gold in California in the 1840's, a flood of gold-seekers headed west, followed by those who would make their money from the miners themselves. People like Jake Wallace, a banjo player and singer whose song "The Days of Forty-Nine" became a "howling success." Joe Murphy was another banjo player and minstrel entertainer who worked with Wallace. His jig is found in Buckley's Guide for the Banjo, 1868. Rock Band DLC - Fever - expert guitar 100% gold* 182k
Judas Priest "Screaming for Vengeance" pack track 09 - "Fever" A 100% gold-star Expert guitar run of "Fever," downloadable content for Rock Band (X360), released 4.22.08. This was probably my least favorite song of the pack -- it's long, slow, and it's one of those songs you know you should 100% but has all sorts of tricky spots to screw you up. I completely botch the overdrive path at the end, but it's 100%, so for the purposes of uploading videos of the entire album, it'll do. :)...
