1998 Women's College Bowling - Kelly Kulick

Title:
1998 Women's College Bowling - Kelly Kulick

Description:
The final of the 1998 Women's Intercollegiate Bowling Championships saw Morehead State, anchored by future Team USA member and future PWBA and PBA star Kelly Kulick, face Central Missouri State. The format was a 2-game Baker match, total pins wins. Kulick would need to step up in the 10th and throw a strike to win the title for her team. This might be the final time Bo Burton ever commentated bowling on national television, as his run on the ABC Pro Bowlers Tour ended in 1997. Jay Randolph, one of my favorite bowling announcers, is on the play-by-play. Joined in progress during the second game. I was in attendance at the University of Wisconsin Fieldhouse (directly adjacent to Camp Randall Stadium) in Madison, Wisconsin in 1998 when this match was held. Great memories. Go Badgers!

1998 PWBA Greater Terre Haute Open - Adler vs. Gianotti
There are two theories to how much time to take while preparing for a tournament-winning shot. Bo Burton used to say that the greats, including Mark Roth and Marshall Holman, used to pick up the ball and go, taking little time to set themselves before the shot. Other bowlers like Ernie Schlegel took lots of time to get ready, making sure everything was perfect before beginning the delivery. Carol Gianotti was in the Roth and Holman category, taking little time before starting. Let's see if ...

1998 PWBA Hammer Players Champ. - Smith vs. Daniels (Part 1)
The 1998 PWBA Hammer Players Championship is one of my all-time favorite PWBA/LPBT telecasts. It featured #2 seed Yvette Smith in the semifinal against Cheryl Daniels. This is surely one of the few times two African-American bowlers of either gender have met on television. Yvette makes Marshall Holman look like Dave Arnold...and I love it! Part 1 of 2.
1998 PWBA Hammer Players Champ. - Smith vs. Macpherson (Pt2)
After defeating Cheryl Daniels in a close semifinal, Yvette Smith faced top seed Wendy Macpherson. The match again came down to the 10th frame. Would Yvette's kids get their Air Jordans, or would her emotion get the best of her a la Marshall Holman? Part 2 of 2.

The date was April 8, 1995 where the finals of the 1995 US Open took place at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, MI before a record vocal crowd of 7212. This is the exciting semi-final match between Paul Koehler and Steve Hoskins. This was Koehler's first appearence on the Pro Bowlers Tour. The winner of this match would meet Dave Husted for the championship. Koehler now bowls out of the Detroit area, and in fact, I had the opportunity to cross with him in the most recent Detroit Masters tournament ...

Lots of strikes and a great break led Norm Duke to the championship of the 1998 PBA Tucson Open over left-handed stroker (with one of the prettiest styles in the game, if you ask me) Eric Forkel. Part 2 of 2.
