![]() | Evolution: Where's the missing link? Evolution, where is this missing link we always hear about? Surely Evolution must be wrong if this link is not found! http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/comdesc/section1.html is the source of the images/dates I am asked a lot why we don't see more fossils. So before you ask "it is incredible that we find as many as we do. Specimens require extremely particular circumstances to fossilise." Another thing, this video isn't hugely accurate. There are many things wrong with it. From the implication that we evolved from apes and the inclusion of neanderthals, to the apparent gaps. Check out KennyTew2's "Human evolution and missing links (Meet the family)" http://youtube.com/watch?v=sZ2WoHFc7eE for a more up-to-date, accurate and well-made video. ![]() | Walking with Cavemen - Part 4 The Survivors 3 of 3 500 thousand, 200 thousand and 140 thousand years B.C. - Europe In the fourth episode we leap forward to a time when Homo heidelbergensis is living in Britain. H. Heidelbergensis is depicted as intelligent and sensitive but lacking in the ability to comprehend an afterlife. Next, we see Homo neanderthalensis hunting mammoths during the Ice Age, and learn that they are intelligent but lack the imagination of modern humans. Finally, we see modern Homo sapiens (represented by Bushmen) in Africa, and glimpse the cave painters of Europe. Some paleanthropologists believe the African H. heidelbergensis is merely an archaic form of modern humans. Also whether H. neanderthalensis are actually a sub-species of Homo sapiens is also controversial among paleanthropologists. |
![]() | Human evolution (A quick response to GriffGriff) A brief, response to the video posted by GriffGriff, This video corrects some of the myths and lies promoted by creationists on the subject of human evolution and includes fossil replicas of Homo heidelberensis, (Broken hill) Homo erectus (Sangiran 17), Homo ergaster (Turkana boy), Homo habilis (KNM-ER 1813) Homo Rudolfensis (KNM-ER 1470). This video offers a brief glimpse of some of the fossils creationists have no serious explanation for. They waste their time doubting the quality of artists reconstructions and reminding us all of the power of science when it comes to uncovering frauds like Piltdown, or mistakes lie Nabraska man. At no point do they ever have anything more than quote mining and laughable taxonomic categorization, and GriffGriff's video is about as accurate as a creationist video gets on the subject. |

![]() | An update on Homo floresiensis, a.k.a. the "Hobbit" Part 1 Part 1 of 7 of a talk given on the 13/02/2007 by Colin Groves, Professor of Biological Anthropology at the ANU Canberra. The talk was organized by the Canberra Skeptics and was about the Homo floresiensis remains found on the island of Flores, Indonesia. Many apologies for the video and audio quality here, this was my first attempt at recording a lecture. Due to YouTubes low resolution, much of the screen text will be lost but Colin does read most of it for us. Also apologies to the people who asked some very interesting questions after both my tape and battery ran out.
