Injuries to one considered serious Medical helicopter enroute to the city to fly one of the victims to a Boston hospital ByElain Allegrini and Maureen Boyle ENTERPRISE STAFF WRITERS BROCKTON —Three children and an adult crossing the street were struck by a van this afternoon in the area of Huntington and North Main streets. Police Lt. John Hallisey said a vehicle stopped to let the four cross the street and another vehicle struck them. A medical helicopter landed at the Massasoit Community College ball field shortly after 1 p.m., about a half hour after the accident, to fly one of the children to a Boston hospital. The other victims were going to Brockton Hospital and Good Samaritan Medical Center. At least three of the victims were seriously injured. One witness said the four were south on the west side of the street when they were struck. Tony Walker, who works nearby, said one of the children went airborne after being struck. Another child was run over twice, he said. Police cordoned off the crash following the 12:30 p.m. crash. Ambulances were taking some victims to Brockton Hospital. The names and ages of the victims were not immediately available. The relationship between the children and the adult were not immediately released. Minutes after the crash, after the victims were rushed by ambulance from the scene, police were gathering evidence. A state police accident reconstruction team was joining the investigation. Teams of officers were at the scene and at the hospitals, getting eye witness accounts of what happened. The name of the driver was not immediately released.
