Hello again, my name is Peter Carroll and i am with the Solon Piecebots from Solon, Iowa. As few of you may remember, both teams finished on the third place alliance on February 16th in Omaha, NE. On February 23rd, both teams went to Appleton, WI with different robots and had a much better outing. Team 367 went 6-2 in the qualifying rounds and placed 9th because of ranking points. Team 761 went 4-4 and placed 13th. In the finals round, team 761 was adopted by the second seeded alliance Capitan PWNAGE while team 367 was adopted by the fourth seeded alliance 19 Below. Both alliances won their first round matches and in the semi finals, fourth seeded 19 Below's alliance lost to the first seed in the final of three matches. But second seeded alliance PWNAGE, with help of team 761 Piecebots, advanced to the finals after winning their third match in a best of three set. Alliance PWNAGE lost the first match of the finals to the top seed, but then tied the second one. In the third match, the bar holding the two platforms together fell off and the match had to be replayed. In the fourth match, PWNAGE/Piecebots/Rebels won by only 3. And it all came down to the final match. It was a thrilling one at that. In the autonomous mode (computer controlled) the platforms were spun around several times and ended in blue's quadrants, giving 10 points to blue (PWNAGE/Piecebots). In player controlled mode, Piecebots were able to control the platforms incredibly well and with three seconds left pushed the fourth and final platform into the Blue quadrant. The final score of the match was 52-23 in favor of PWNAGE/Piecebots/Rebels, which won the competition. PWNAGE (from Batavia, IL) got an automatic bid to the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, and Piecebots (761) were placed in a lottery. On February 27th, Coach Brown informed us we had won the lottery, and we are also going to the World Competition in Atlanta, GA on April 16-19. Congratulations to all who were competing and i hope to see you all down in Atlanta come April.
