So, when the people on camera talk they are louder than the narrator... it's cool, welcome to the editor's world of rough cut audio! The Ghosts are about the most extreme example of 'animatte on the AVID gone about' as wild as I've done. It's an artform, really -- anyone else have cool shows with animatte? Trivia: A matte is a cookie cutter shaped hole in one layer of media that allows the 2nd to show through. Animatte is drawn frame by frame by the editor. In this case, I placed images from public domain lumber jacks behind the scene, threw a glow around them, and moved the background plate to match the foreground camera pan. Repeat 3 times and rinse. Trivia #2: Editors are more often becoming digital compositors, and writers, and producers, and story tellers.... etc. As en executive producer, I see the sense in replacing a small team of producers and writers and graphics people with one editor. But, I do NOT see the sense in insisting the best editors are paid nothing more for these newly defined roles! Also, I don't see why more producers don't learn to edit at the rough cut stage!
