Title:
Georgia and Florida Road Trip, March 2009

Description:
Our road trip to visit friends and family in Senoia, GA, St. Petersburg, FL, and Fort Lauderdale, FL. We missed a very rare 5+ inch snowfall in Danville during our trip, but we drove through rain, sleet and SNOW in southern Georgia. Besides visiting with folks, I was also on a Tiki quest to bring back items for my tiki-fied art studio, and was able to score quite a few goodies during our journey. Unexpectedly, I found a couple pieces mixed in with the antiques in the Georgia junkshops. We were surprised to see the surfboard from Apocalypse Now in a restaurant in Senoia (they've filmed lots of movies in Senoia). I also saw some gorgeous vintage jukeboxes in the tiny town of Sharpsburg, when Nan and I were out rummaging. We had a fantastic time with the Ventimiglia family, hearing family stories and scanning old family photos. Dinner at the Mai Kai with family was a special treat, too. John and I even got to ride a couple of little Hondas in Senoia. We certainly packed a lot into this trip and into our truck on the way home! If you know what kind of tree is shown at around 1:40 in the vid - PLEASE leave the name in the comments. Even the groundskeeper at Mom's condo doesn't know the species! (EDIT: Thanks to Sharon Schmidt;the tree is a sapodilla tree.)

Dad visits Danville, our BRP ride
My 73-year-old Dad just got his motorcycle license (and a new AERO750) last year. He rode from Menasha, WI, to Townsend, TN in June, 2008, to attend his all-AERO rally, then rode another 340 miles to visit us in Danville, VA, and ride the Blue Ridge Parkway with John and I. We stayed overnight in Roanoke, ran into heavy rain in the mountains, stopped at Dixie Caverns, Mill Mt., the Roanoke Star, Tuggles Gap and Mabry Mill. I am so proud of my Pa! What a great weekend...
