The Landmark Icon of I-75

You're invited to come along as we take a trip down the interstate to Florence, KY where one of the most recognizable iconic landmarks can be seen along I-75. This presentation features several views of the Florence Y'All water tower seen by millions of interstate travelers as they make their way north and south along I-75 and I-71. Painted in eye-catching red and white, the story is told of how this phrase came to adorn the water tower and become adopted as an official slogan by the city of Florence, Kentucky. Before the Florence Mall was built a water tower was constructed to serve the mall and the numerous businesses which would be housed there. Upon completion, the developers decided to cash in on some advanced advertising by having the name Florence Mall painted on the the tower so that it was visible by all traffic passing by on the interstate. The City of Florence was informed that the signage violated laws regarding the height of a sign advertising a buisness and ultimately declared that the Mall developers should have the water tower painted over. In an effort to conserve money and resources, the water tower sign was altered to say Florence Y'all by painting over a portion of the letter M. Since that time, the slogan Florence Y'all, once scorned by locals and the object of derision by Cincinnatians, has become an official city slogan and is celebrated every year with the Florence Y'all Festival.
