2009 Elk Grove Pumpkin Regatta makes use of monstrous produce
Nothing is certain in giant pumpkin racing. At the third annual Giant Pumpkin Regatta held on Oct. 4 as part of this years CSD Giant Pumpkin Festival of Elk Grove, there were several last-minute substitutions, late entries and a close finish. The five entrants took giant pumpkins from the previous days weigh-off and hollowed them out into boats. They then set off in a race across Elk Grove Regional Parks lake with a $500 prize in sight. We had a smashing good time! at the Giant Pumpkin weigh-off at Fir Point Farms. We even got to see one dropped on a car. At 1300 pounds the car didn't stand a chance.
