In celebration of Duke Ellington's birthday the R-1/R-9's made a special run along the A line from 125th Street to Howard Beach-JFK and Howard Beach-JFK to Inwood-207th Street! *Note these were two separate videos combined as one!  | Jazz Band plays on the 1940's subway on Duke Ellington Day The Alex lodico Ensemble plays on R-4 401, a 1940's subway car, in honor of April 29th being declared Duke Ellington Day, as it was the 110th Anniversary of his birth. The vintage nostalgia train ran from 125 St (A/B/C/D) to Howard Beach (A) and back as the Bahamas Express. The jazz band played the entire time I rode the train, and they were awesome. Speeding olde timey express trains and live jazz definitely goes together really well. |
