What can I say about this place? It's one of the most amazing places I have ever been to, if not the most!... It's the largest Salt Flats in the world at 3,650m above see level. I had no expectations from this place and no idea what to expect either. The drive across the flats was calm and uneventful, but it created a unique feeling of isolation which I'd never felt before, to be surrounded by absolutely nothing but white salt as far as the eye could see. Only small shadows of mountains on the horizon which might as well be mirages!...It felt as though we'd left this world and were lost somewhere (watch Pirates of the Caribbean 3). The last thing I expected was a small island in the middle of the flats where giant Cactuses grew!!!... This place was just surreal... Oh and they have a hotel on the flats built from salt, what else?...
