Sea otter pup befriends kayaker

Title:
Sea otter pup befriends kayaker

Description:
During a trip to Elkhorn Slough, California, a young sea otter noticed my kayak and spent the next 10 minutes playing around and then just left. As a note, please don't feed the otters. This pup was tagged, and was probably looking for food. As you can see, they tend to get dependent on humans. I won't even touch them. I don't think human contact is a good thing. Enjoy it.

Baby southern sea otter - scared by passing airplane
It's now the last week of August. Between the boats and boaters, dock workers, and maintenance crew, life around the marina is a bit noisy. Passing airplanes seem to be her least favorite sounds. But, this otter mother seems to like it here. Floating on her back, she grooms herself and her little boy before climbing up onto the dock for a napping and nursing.
