February 26, 2008 From Whitefish to Cut Bank. The first half was recorded from the Sightseer Lounge Car (hence all the chatter), before retreating to my bedroom compartment. Microsoft Train Simulator fans can compare this to the scenery depicted in the game's Marias Pass scenario.The video includes a stop at the Izaak Walton Inn at Essex. The Essex stop consists of a utility pole with a sign on it. It is the last flag stop on the Empire Builder route between Chicago and Seattle / Portland. For most of the video, the train is traveling through Glacier National Park, which is up by the Canadian border. Arriving in Cut Bank, the conductor incorrectly announces it as the "northern most point you can reach traveling anywhere aboard an Amtrak passenger train." Anywhere in the United States, for sure.
