Danny Boy Lyrics Artist: Sinead O'Connor "Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling. From glen to glen, and down the mountain side. The summer's gone, and all the flowers are falling. 'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide. But come ye back when summer's in the meadow, Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow. And I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow. Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so. But if you come, and all the flowers are falling. And I am dead, as dead I might well be. You'll come and find the place where I am lying. And kneel and say an "Ave" there for me. And I will hear, though soft your tread above me. And all my grave will warmer sweeter be. And you will bend and tell me that you love me. And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me. But if I live, and should you die for Ireland, Let not your dying thoughts be just of me. But say a prayer to God for our dearest Ireland. I know He'll hear and help to set her free. And I will take your pike and place my dearest, And strike a blow, though weak the blow may be. T'will help the cause to which your heart was nearest Oh Danny Boy, Oh, Danny boy I love you so." |
![]() | Davy Spillane Caoineadh Cu Chulainn Uilleann pipes The Show (((Stereo))) From Riverdance The Show at the Point Theatre in Dublin 1995. Caoineadh Cu Chulainn (Lament) For those that have asked -the correct pronounciation of Caoineadh Cu Chulainn according Erins Web.com is: 'Kweena Coo Hulling' Song composed by Bill Whelan. Presented here is Davy Spillane with a lament on the uilleann pipes for Cuchulain, the great Irish hero and leader who fought the sea prior to his death. Cúchulainn /(Irish "Hound of Culann"; also spelled Cú Chulainn, Cú Chulaind, Cúchulain, or Cuchullain) is an Irish mythological hero who appears in the stories of the Ulster Cycle, as well as in Scottish and Manx folklore. The son of the god Lugh and Deichtine, sister of the king of Ulster, he was originally named Sétanta , but gained his better-known name as a child after he killed Culann's fierce guard-dog in self-defence, and offered to take its place until a replacement could be reared. At the age of seventeen he defended Ulster single-handedly against the armies of queen Medb of Connacht in the epic Táin Bó Cúailnge ("The Cattle Raid of Cooley"). It was prophesied that his great deeds would give him everlasting fame, but that his life would be short; one reason he is compared to the Greek hero Achilles. He is known for his terrifying battle frenzy or ríastrad, in which he becomes an unrecognisable monster who knows neither friend nor foe. He fights from his chariot, driven by his loyal charioteer Láeg, and drawn by his horses, Liath Macha and Dub Sainglend. (Wikipedia) |

![]() | Riverdance - Reel Around the Sun (Point Theatre Dublin 1995) Like you've never seen it. The quality from the DVD's quite good. "Reel Around the Sun always opens the show. This dramatic dance piece expresses the primal fascination wit spiritual and elemental forces. The dancers step as though out of the dawn of time. The first stamp of the foot lights up the world. These mythical figures begin to celebrate movement in a gentle swaying rhythm, which gradually builds to a powerful reel, as Michael Flatley leads the company in praise of the power of the sun" |
